5MMSCMD natural gas treatment process proposal introduction

This technical proposal is from customer’s natural gas processing plant. Since the total gas flow is 5MMSCMD, for transportation and other reasons, it is divided into 6 sets of 5MMSCMD natural gas processing facilities, utility and other auxiliary facilities, long-distance pipelines (the owner builds gas pipelines) and will transported in Iran;

This natural gas processing plant mainly includes:

 1) A set of throttling cooling system: throttling and depressurizing the high-pressure natural gas coming out of the gas well, and water-cooling the throttled natural gas to normal temperature;

2) A set of three-phase separator separation system: separating the three-phase materials such as gas, water and associated light oil in the natural gas after throttling, depressurizing and cooling. The oily will be discharged after qualified treatment by the sewage treatment system. The associated light oil will further settle and separate the water before being sold to the market. The gas is divided into 6 trains respectively to enter the 6-train MDEA desulfurization system;

3) MDEA desulfurization system: equipping 6 trains of 5MMSCMD-scale devices to remove the natural gas to less thaN2ppm and send it to the molecular sieve dehydration system;

4) Molecular sieve dehydration system: equipping 6 trains of 5MMSCMD-scale devices to remove moisture from natural gas to prevent freezing and blocking of pipelines during long-distance natural gas transportation. After passing the dehydration, it will be sent to the hydrocarbon dew point stabilization system;

5) Hydrocarbon dew point stabilization system: Equipping 6 trains of 5MMSCMD scale devices, use propane refrigerators for cooling, and dehydrate the natural gas. Remove heavy hydrocarbons in natural gas to prevent pipelines from freezing and blocking during long-distance natural gas transportation;

 6) Long-distance pipeline system (gas pipelines are constructed by gas field owners): Qualified product gas processed by natural gas processing plants is transported to Iran through long-distance pipelines.

The entire natural gas processing plant will include power/electrical facilities including gas generation sets, as well as utilities such as circulating water systems, nitrogen instrument air systems, desalted water systems, thermal oil heating systems, solvent filling systems, sewage treatment and discharge systems, etc. and infrastructure; at the same time, the entire station also includes safety systems such as flare venting.

Process system description

(1) Wellhead gas throttling, pressure reduction, cooling and three-phase separation system

The natural gas from the gas well is throttled and depressurized, and cooled by the feed gas cooler before entering the three-phase separator. Under the action of gravity, due to the difference in density between oil and water, the free water sinks to the bottom of the container, and the oil floats to the top and climbs over the oil-water barrier. The plate enters the oil chamber, and the float-type liquid level regulator controls the crude oil discharge by operating the oil drain valve to maintain the stability of the oil level. The separated free water is discharged through the drain valve controlled by the oil-water interface regulator to maintain the stability of the oil-water interface. The separated oil enters the stabilizer to further separate the water, and then enters the oil storage tank, where it accumulates to a certain amount and is sold to oil sellers. The separated moisture enters the sewage treatment system through the closed discharge system and is discharged after passing the treatment.
