Dehydration unit function in natural gas treatment
TEG dehydration (triethylene glycol dehydration) is one of the most commonly used dehydration methods in the natural gas processing industry, belonging to solvent absorption method. It utilizes the absorption principle and uses glycol substances (such as triethylene glycol) as absorbents to fully contact with natural gas, transferring water to the solvent to achieve dehydration. The molecular structure of glycerol contains hydroxyl and ether bonds, which can form hydrogen bonds with water and have a strong affinity for water, resulting in a high dehydration depth.

The advantages of TEG dehydration include:
Easy to regenerate: Triethylene glycol is easy to regenerate, with a lean liquid mass fraction of up to 98%~99% and a significant dew point drop.Low operating costs: Low operating costs, suitable for large-scale applications.Low investment: Equipment investment and operating costs are relatively low.Continuous operation: suitable for continuous operation, superior to intermittent operation of solid adsorbent method.
However, TEG dehydration also has some drawbacks:
The saturated wet natural gas passes through the filter separator to separate the droplets of 5 μm and above, and then enters the gas-liquid separator of the dehydration device to separate the free liquid. The separated gas enters the absorption section through the gas rising pipe of the absorption tower. The regenerated TEG is sprayed at the top of the absorption tower , and it is fully contacted with the natural gas from the bottom up on the absorption tower to carry out mass transfer and exchange to remove moisture. The natural gas which moisture has been removed is removed from the tower top mist collector to remove glycol droplets larger than 5 μm and then exits the tower.
